Carpe Diem Bay Pathway Spring 2017 2 FROM THE PRESIDENT Vision 2019 represents Bay Path's commitment to manage the cost of our education to ensure earning a college degree is affordable for our students; to provide academic programs that are relevant and respond to the needs of the marketplace; to foster a diverse and inclusive community that reflects the fabric of America; and to build an infrastructure of metrics that will inform our decision-making. Many of the achievements of Vision 2019 are possible because of the success of It Begins Here: The Campaign for Bay Path. I am pleased to announce our campaign, completed as of December 31, 2016, met and exceeded our goal of $9 million, raising $11,025,687 (see page 14). When federal grants are included, the total is $15,495,159. This is an incredible accomplishment in three years. I salute the advancement team who worked tirelessly to reach this milestone, and also Campaign Chair and current Chair of the Board of Trustees Pat Pierce, CFA (profiled on page 22). On behalf of Bay Path students and the community, I extend a heartfelt "thank you" to the many donors whose generosity allowed our students to realize their dream of a college education. Truly, It Began With You. This issue of the Bay Pathway is extraordinary in many ways. We are developing a national reputation due to the work of our faculty, staff and students from our many divisions that addresses the workforce needs of tomor- row. I ask you to check out the "In the News" section of this issue to learn about the Online Learning Consortium Award earned by The American Women's College; Provost Melissa Morriss-Olson's writing, research and presentations for the Academic Impressions organiza- tion; the voices of our alumni who share their perspective on empathy; and the introduction of our latest initiative: Strategic Alliances. This new division provides a range of unique non-credit programs to help corporations and businesses develop emerging women leaders and first-time managers. I would also like to share my appointment by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to serve on the Homeland Security Academic Advisory Council Every three years, Bay Path embarks on a process to develop a new strategic plan. In October 2016, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved Vision 2019: Imagining the Bay Path University of the Future. Over 80 faculty, students and staff participated in university-wide meetings over several months to help generate the content of this comprehensive plan.
