Tiffany G'11 and Ted Madru G'11 YES, WE CANNABIS "We say that cannabis is safer than lettuce," explains Tiffany Cutting Madru G'11. Cutting Madru and her husband, Ted Madru, own and operate Analytics Labs, a Holyoke-based cannabis testing facility, where they analyze marijuana samples from over 50 operators across the commonwealth to ensure products meet the state's rigorous safety standards. The couple opened the business eight months ago, applying their collective years of experience and a pair of Bay Path MBA degrees to be a part of the green rush—the economic boom brought on by the legalization of cannabis. As the legalization movement expanded toward Massachusetts, the pair recognized the opportunities the cannabis industry brought, as well as the practical experience and work ethic they brought to the cannabis industry. "We said, 'How can we become a part of it?'" And today they are. To read the complete story on how the Madrus are on the forefront of the cannabis industry go to Bay Pathway Online. Kelly Hawkins '98 CHAMPIONING CHILDFREE BY CHOICE Since 1998, the year Kelly Hawkins graduated from Bay Path, the number of American women having children has steadily decreased. "I felt like I was on my own island. It's something that's not so openly talked about, and I was compelled to share my story and my reasons on being childfree," she explains. Hawkins' book, 50 Things to Know About Being Childfree by Choice, fulfilled the need to frankly articulate her choice but also to support and inspire women who, despite having no regrets about the choices they've made, feel pressured by society to explain them. A former English teacher, Hawkins has now made a shift in her career. Find out what she is doing now by going to the Bay Pathway Online. Kelly Hawkins '98 Mike Moran Madru family
