Greetings from the Community suzanne f. parker , j.d. Executive Director, Girls Inc. of the Valley Since 2006, Suzanne Parker has been the executive director of Girls Inc. of the Valley. She works closely with the community, the staff, and the Board of Directors, to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Girls Inc. of the Valley, founded in 1981, provides school-age, youth development and mentoring programs to provide girls with the opportunity to develop and achieve their full potential. Under Parker's leadership, Girls Inc. of the Valley has expanded its geographic reach and now serves up to 1,000 youth in Springfield, Holyoke, Chicopee, and the surrounding towns. A native of western Massachusetts, Parker earned a bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a Juris Doctor from Western New England University School of Law. Parker has served nationally on Girls Inc. Board of Directors. Currently, she serves on the Holyoke Community College Board of Trustees, as well as on the executive committee of the North Sandwich Community Association. Greetings from the Faculty dr . thomas mennella Dr. omas Mennella is an associate professor of biology and the director of the master of science in applied laboratory science and operations at Bay Path University. In the spring of 2021, Dr. Mennella was elected to serve as the faculty chair and began his two year term in July 2021. His research background is in molecular genetics, specifically focusing on the regulation of transcription in eukaryotic cells. More recently, Dr. Mennella has turned his attention towards new and effective approaches to teaching the sciences in the classroom, specializing in flipped and active learning pedagogies. He earned his bachelor's and doctorate degrees at the University at Albany, State University of New York, followed by post-doctoral positions at the Harvard Medical School and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Greetings from the Traditional Undergraduate College julia dudek ' 2 3 Hailing from Naugutuck, Connecticut, Julia Dudek '23 is a pre-dental major at Bay Path University. She currently serves as the president of Bay Path's Student Government Association, and is also the president of the American Sign Language Club and the Environmental Club. A Maroon Key Honor Society member, Ms. Dudek also participates in Bay Path's prestigious Women in STEM Honors Program (WiSH). She is determined to pursue a career in dentistry, and, in her words, to be "…driven to implement change one smile at a time."
