www.baypath.edu Charles remembers the first time he felt the impact of a scholarship on his ability to follow his dreams. "It wasn't long after I graduated from Boston University with a bachelor's degree in business that I realized a career in music was right for me. I went back to BU and started my masters in the field. Within a year, I was offered a substantial scholarship from Yale, and I transferred." Upon completing his master's degree, Charles went on to become a Fulbright Scholar in Amsterdam. "It was the opportunity of a lifetime," he said fondly. A gifted teacher, the breadth of his experience in music and the arts has impacted generations of students across the globe, many of whom he remains close with. In 2015, Charles, a longtime donor to Bay Path's Carpe Diem Fund and BOLD Scholarship, established the Charles E. Page Scholarship for Bay Path students involved in the performing arts. "I have always thought it important to give back in this way because the arts are so deeply enriching— I've heard many times from alumni that their involvement in music and theater at Bay Path was essential to their development as a person." This scholarship is not the first Charles has helped provide for Bay Path students. When his longtime partner, Paul Norton, passed away, Charles was instrumental in creating the Paul Norton Memorial Scholarship. "Under Paul's tutelage, students had incredible opportunities to grow and meet others. He did so much for the community," Charles explained. Through his belief in the power of arts in higher education, Charles's philanthropy spans beyond his gifts to Bay Path. As he spends half of his time in Florida, he has sought out opportunities to give back there, too, supporting Gulf Coast University's choral group. "If a scholarship can make a difference to a student between taking another job or participating in athletics or the arts, I'm glad to be able to make that possible," Charles said. GIVING MATTERS CHARLES PAGE, BELOVED DIRECTOR OF MUSIC FOR 36 YEARS AT BAY PATH, HONORS HIS COMMITMENT TO THE PERFORMING ARTS AND HIS BELIEF IN HIGHER EDUCATION BY GIVING BACK TO BAY PATH, AND BEYOND.
