Bay Pathway Winter 2015 An Evening at Monticello In America's history, President Thomas Jefferson's Monticello (Italian for "little mountain") is an iconic national landmark. Bay Path University's Millennium Society members and guests spent a magical evening for the 15th annual Millennium Society event in the home of our country's third President. However, it wasn't in Virginia, but rather in the rural town of Somers, CT, where longtime supporters and friends Prestley and Helen Blake have painstakingly built an exact replica of this iconic treasure. In the spirit of Jefferson, who was a passionate lifelong learner and supporter of the arts, attendees were greeted and escorted by students in period costumes, gathered in rooms with remarkable architectural details, and listened to a keynote address on Monticello from Dr. John T. Casteen III, President Emeritus and Professor at the University of Virginia, an institution founded by Thomas Jefferson. 1. From left, Fay J. Henry '48, Jewel Noel, and Mary Babbitt '69. 2.
